If questions carry different points, use points instead: points earned ÷ points possible × 100. Example: 17 out of 20 = 17 ÷ 20 × 100 = 85%, a B.
Letter grades use the common US 10-point scale. Your school may use a different scale (for example with plus/minus grades or a 7-point scale), so check your syllabus.
| Letter | Percent |
|---|---|
| A | 90–100% |
| B | 80–89% |
| C | 70–79% |
| D | 60–69% |
| F | Below 60% |
Enter the number of questions and the calculator lists the percentage and letter for every possible number of wrong answers (up to 60), so you can grade a stack of papers without recalculating.
13 ÷ 15 = 86.67%, a B on the 10-point scale.
85%, a B.
75%, a C.
Multiply each score by its weight and add them up. Use the Weighted Grade Calculator (coming soon) or the Final Grade Calculator.
