How wa.me links work

WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat format is https://wa.me/<number>, where the number is in international format without +, spaces, dashes or leading zeros. Add ?text= and a URL-encoded message to pre-fill the chat. Anyone who taps the link opens a chat with you, even if they haven’t saved your number. Details: WhatsApp Help Center.

Tips

• Use a WhatsApp Business account to add an away message and business hours.
• Keep the pre-filled message short and specific so you know where the lead came from (“Hi, I’m interested in the spring sale”).
