How PayPal fees are calculated

fee = amount × percentage + fixed fee to receive X: charge (X + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage)

Default rates are PayPal’s published US commercial rates when this page was built (October 2026): 3.49% + $0.49 for PayPal Checkout and 2.99% + $0.49 for standard card payments, with an extra 1.50% for international payments. PayPal changes fees, and currency conversion is extra, so check the official PayPal merchant fees page and edit the rate if needed.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the PayPal fee on $100?

$3.98 at 3.49% + $0.49, so you receive $96.02.
